Steve Walker (verified owner) –
I don’t get this circuit. Everything is working fine, but the distortion is so hot and oversaturated right out of the gate (fully counter-clockwise) that I have to pull my guitar’s volume way back or add an underdrive circuit before the pedal just to tame it to a usable level. Turning the gain knob clockwise only compounds the problem. I will say that running it “tamed” with a very low input produces a pleasing distortion sound that’s well-suited to 70s and 80s rock. But needing to pull the guitar’s volume way back or add an underdrive in front of the pedal is a pain. And this is coming from a guy who appreciates pedals like the DOD FX-69 Grunge pedal for what it is! Pros: PedalPCB’s designs are extraordinarily good. Like all of their other PCBs, this one is well-researched and beautifully designed.
