I was looking for something to use that had a smooth, warm sound that wasn’t clipping very hard. This pedal was absolutely perfect for me. It sounded better than I had ever dreamed. I was so excited, I bought two so I could build another to give to a friend.

A super easy build. Everyone needs one of these. Good sounding, flexible overdrive for goosing up your signal with some extra sauce.

Really nice sounding pedal, I use it on the edge of breakup for my humbucker guitars as it doesn’t over do it. Nice creamy lead tone as well with more gain. The switch adds more tonal options

I bought this when the V2 Timmy was discontinued and prices skyrocketed. It sounds every bit as good as the real deal, but I’m giving 4 stars for the pot values.
The original uses log (A taper) for the Treble, Bass, and Gain controls, which prevents things from getting bunched up at one end of the sweep. I highly recommend subbing those in for the Linear pots listed in the build doc. Oh, and a TL072 is a killer sub as well!

The quality of these PCBs is amazing and puts Tonepad to shame. Losing 1 star for the “in the style of” denomination where the values are not true to the Timmy, and lacking the ability to reduce to 2 clipping diodes as per the original.

My favorite build so far and my favorite OD/distortion I’ve ever owned. I just love the sound of this pedal, especially how versatile it is.
I like having the internal switch for symmetrical vs. asymmetrical clipping. I had no idea what would sound better, but it turns out I have a very strong preference for the asym clipping on this pedal. I thought I’d want to have easier access to that switch, but for me I liked to be able to compare and then set it forever. The gain switch is really helpful depending on whether you’re using this pedal as a light OD or boost pedal vs. a dirtier OD/distortion pedal.
Fairly easy build and would definitely recommend!

What an amazing pedal that is! I have already built a Tommy II for my brother which he loved, but when I saw the v3 I had to grab it! It can be really subtle and creamy up to high-gain’ish if you want. Definitely one of my best (if not the best) pedals I own.

Great drive circuit, quite versatile, and is great for gain staging/stacking. The low and high controls are potent, I could see this pedal fitting into almost any rig.

What a great pedal. I like that I can use it anywhere, in any setup. Sometimes its an OD, sometimes its a Boost, maybe pushing my Marshall’s drive. The versatility and sound quality of this pedal are outstanding. It is one of the few pedals that sounds great through all of my amps.
