New Revision
- Improved component layout
- Now accommodates 1/4W resistors
Overview
The Magnetron Delay is a tape echo simulator using the PT2399 delay IC with some modulation to bring back that classic sound. With the digital delay filtered to sound like warm analog tape, the modulation section will effect the repeats of the delay with “wow and flutter”.
The lower LED indicates the speed of the modulation and will be brighter or darker depending on the depth.
Controls
- Time – Adjusts the delay time
- Regen – Sets the delay line regeneration from a single repeat to full on self-oscillation
- Depth – Adjusts the modulation depth
- Speed – Adjusts the modulation speed
- Level – Adjusts the delayed signal volume
Specifications
- Designed for a 125B enclosure with top-mounted jacks

This is my favorite delay, I absolutely love it. The delay sounds great and the modulation can go from really subtle to almost vibrato like. I added a havoc switch that sends the feedback into oscillation, which just made it perfect for my needs. Add in the fact it is in a 125B with top mounted jacks, it is the perfect delay.

Fun pedal, sounds great and very quiet. The board is well payed out, not too difficult to build, and I’m a relatively inexperienced builder.
Highly recommend.

Great delay! My favorite delay that I have built from any site.

Love this delay! Wish I could upload a pic here, I think it looks pretty awesome and would love to show it.

Awesome sounding Circuit, the PCB is very nice . i was able to put two of these in one enclosure and add a few mods . i added an FX loop in the feedback , a tone control and a few other mods that make this circuit my favorite Delay . i recommend Bread boarding before you solder you can adjust some values to make it perfect for your gear. 5 out of 5 stars . you need this circuit, its a must build.

One of the only builds I’ve been disappointed in. I’m a big fan of tape delay and bucket brigades. But this pedal is so dark and muddy, I don’t find it usable. Additionally the level control is too low, even when it’s turned all the way up the level is still too low for the pedal to self oscillate like the original.

my favorite pt2399 delay i’ve built thus far. the warble effect is really versatile and has a ton of usable settings. the filtering on the delays sounds as advertised. i have the trim pot set at 1-2 o’clock. highly recommend as your first delay build!
