I’m really liking this pedal. All 3 gain positions are useful and the 3 band EQ is a great addition to the normal tone control. The blue channel is round and chewy – the middle channel with no clipping gives you that nice low gain tube overdrive – the red channel reminds me of a high gain el34 brit sound. I love that you can dial down the bass and get that nice overdriven crunch. Never does the pedal sound buzzy or harsh.
Hats off to PedalPCB for a great design and layout. With the provided drill template, the board dropped right in. Even the LED was perfectly lined up. I can say enough how absolutely well designed this layout is. The pedal is surprisingly quiet, even at the higher gain settings. This one will be going on my board for sure.

Disclaimer: I have never owned the Revv G2.
This is a great medium gain overdrive. I added a higher gain mod and it sounds much better I think. The EQ is great, but I don’t think it sounds particularly good at low gain settings – the hard clipping is too present IMO, the breakup is abrupt and not natural (as you would expect from hard clipping). However I plan to add Ge diodes in series with each LED, and possibly add a small resistor in series to the clipping diodes from the signal path, at which point I will give an updated review.
Overall totally worth the build, I would just recommend using it with higher gain.

Follow up to my previous review – I decided to remove the clipping diodes altogether and use it more as a straight preamp / EQ than a drive pedal – I love it!
The EQ on the Revv pedals really is awesome – even with maxed out treble, it’s still not nearly as biting and harsh as a lot of pedals, but still very present and glassy. Meanwhile, cutting the bass gives an almost single-coil chime, so immediately you see a ton of range in the controls that is largely absent from a lot of similar 3-band EQ pedals.
Now, without the LEDs, when you turn up the gain, you start to get clipping through the TL072 op-amp, which sounds much more natural than the hard LED clipping IMO. You can easily get it right on the edge of breakup, and that was really difficult for me before.
In short: I recommend socketing the LEDs and going from there.
