This pedal is great. Thank God for Pedal Pcb allowing me to have a repro of the EQD Life unit without participating in:
1 ) The Reverb/Sunn O))) Black Friday type trolley dash for the initial units.
2) The subsequent and inevitable glut of capitalists flipping the units on Reverb for vulgar amounts of money in the following weeks.
It’s a really straightforward build. Just make sure you get a matching pair of germanium diodes for the octave section. A simple multimeter will allow you to check for matching fv. Mine read at around 330, and the octave is strong.
This isn’t purely a Sunn O)))/drone unit. It’s a boost+Rat+octave, so it covers any ground which suits Rat pedals. Fit the third DPDT to bypass the octave.
Thank you Pedal Pcb!

This thing rips. It has me giving the side-eye to one of my expensive fuzz pedals that I just don’t like as much anymore…
This build was easy, but please note that there are some tips in the forum about matching diodes for the octave fuzz that you may want to read before you jump in. I found them helpful.

Great sounding and relatively easy build, except the v2 layout has some issues like I/Os are beneath pots (which makes final hookups difficult) and power jack extends over the board (same issue here). I recommend shifting the entire drilling template down 1/2cm or similar. It’s just way too tight as it is now.

This pedal is GREAT! It’s so useful. The Rat style distortion has a variety of clipping options, the octave really thickens your guitar tone, and it even has a fantastic boost that could honestly stand on it’s own. The pedal seems tailor-made for drop-tuned psych/doom genres, but it also excels at hardcore in the vein of Discharge.

nice pedal, i love experimenting with the clipping options. i used D9B germanium diodes measuring mid to high 200’s in MV. i used a 2N3906 for the octave instead of a 2N5087, and it’s definitely noiser once you turn the octave up.
i would consider this a must-build, as it was easy to populate and assemble while utilizing some more specialized components. lots of fun!
