Straightforward build, great sounding pedal – very warm and vocal in the mids, but not in the usual congested way a tube screamer has. I found this circuit to be quite dark, so I swapped a few caps that I felt were bleeding off too much high end near the end of the circuit to brighten it up and it worked like a charm. Quite possible that the caps I had in it at first were out of spec, possible I made a build error, but either way it sounds fantastic now. Stacks incredibly well.

This is a great low/mid gain overdrive. I love it to just add a little bit of bite to a nice clean guitar. Great for getting a John Mayer or Jeff Beck type sound. Thing thing is great on it’s own, or stacks well with other pedals.

Very easy project. I’d recommend using a b100k volume pot as this circuit doesn’t have a lot of output, especially if you have the drive pot turned down. You can also replace the 220k resistor with something a little higher (390k or 470k maybe) for a little more dirt.

i finally get why people love the BB circuit. it sounds awesome. when i build another one i’ll swap the volume pot for the b100k as the other reviewer noted. this is a must-build!

This pedal sounds great if you take the mod advice above from Willis. Sub 220k for 470k. Sub vol pot for b100. I bread boarded this before getting the pcb. I thought it was quiet and needed a boost. With this mod you don’t really need a boost

This pedal sounds right to me. I don’t need to modify the gain nor the volume. I changed the volume pot to B100k, it took the warmness this pedal it offers. The tone knob is enough to have a transparent sound but in crunchy way which the sound of old BB should be. Modifying the volume altered the response of tone control into way transparent to my ears which I ended up turning down the tone between 9 and 10 o’clock pos. You will not get that John Mayer, Clapton creamy sound if you modify the volume knob. It gives good amount of fatness boost on dist. Besides the volume is enough to be leveled to unity or add a bit volume from the unity level reference.
