This thing sounds fantastic! Even if you aren’t a Queen or Brian May fan, this circuit will give you some of the richest and most responsive overdrive tones around. Cleans up nicely when you dial back your guitar’s volume. The capacitor spacing is a little tight, so I recommend using lower voltage polyester box caps. Regular film caps, like the “greenies”, will fit as long as you are using the lower voltage (eg: 63v) types. Also a good idea to socket the transistors. On Q1, I had to flip the 2N2222 transistor around for the correct pinout. Otherwise it lacks volume and doesn’t sound right.

This is a follow up to my earlier review of the Bohemia. I just discovered that I used a PN2222 for Q1. These have a reverse pinout to a standard 2N2222 and that’s why it only sounded right flipped around. My bad! The board is correct and should sound the way it is supposed to with a regular 2N2222 for Q1. Great pedal!

Really nice pedal. You certainly get the Brian May tone easily and in general AC30 cleans with dialing back your guitar volume. Placement of components is nice and in general is a nice PCB.
