This pedal takes off where the “Van Pelt Drive” leaves off. Much more of a JCM 900 / 2000 feel with the amount of gain on tap. Great for riffing and solos, cleans up nicely too.

Excellent layout. No oscillation problems or squeal. I used the 10k resistor in the build guide, not the 6k on the silkscreen. Sounds excellent! I also used the little daughter board on the stomp. Highly recommended. The wiring is a direct ribbon cable connection for the 4 wires with that. Thanks! I’ll be back

Very versatile. I haven’t played through the pedal this is emulating or through a JCM800 for that matter, so I can’t say for certain how close it gets to those. But it sounds great. I can get tones that are similar to many different artists, from AC/DC to Metallica, Tom Morello, and many others. If I search around for amp settings for people that play through Marshalls and use those settings on this pedal, it’s generally similar to what I’m looking for, which tells me that it’s doing what it’s supposed to do. The distortion goes from overdrive to pretty heavy, and the EQ is very flexible but usable throughout it’s range. I think my all in cost for all the components and the board was about a 3rd of the price to buy the JHS version.

no high end , very much gain but its lacking in highs to the point it doesnt seem usable .

It might be worth doublechecking / troubleshooting your build. This should have plenty of treble on tap.

I liked this pedal a lot. It is crunchy and can be heavy too. Sounds thick for lead solos. The EQ is accurate and working good. I hope the pots I got from Tayda will last long.

Sounds really good. Just wondering why the EQ goes Treble Mids Bass instead of conventional Bass Mids Treble? Maybe a revision or change?

Habit… my primary amp is a Fender Twin.

Big, thick, and classic Marshall sound that can make a pristinely clean amp sound like a whole stack. It’s crazy how there’s little to no noise compared to how much drive it has.

Wow. This thing rips. It goes from nice overdrive to in your face high gain. The PCB is of extraordinary quality and was easy to assemble. The build instructions were clear, though the wiring diagram depicts an older version I’m assuming. It’s not really a big deal though. Stacks with other drives very well too. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a versatile hard clipping distortion pedal.
