i’ve never gotten to play with the real deal, but this was a super easy build and sounds great. as far as where on the od spectrum this rests, i can’t say… somewhere between a tubescreamer and a janglebox maybe (?). in any case, it’s a good complement to my 2007 kot: a bit brighter and snappier/edgier overdrive with very little compression. the higher gain settings of the pedal are kinda trashy sounding with humbuckers, which definitely has its place, just not for me.
parts were easily sourced except the bc307b. i couldn’t really tell the difference between a legit nos bc307b and a cheap bc327 (and maybe a bc560b too… if forget what all i tested) but ymmv.
