This pedal is the party you want to go to; it is unique and wild and awesome. Its a friggin’ righteous circuit and my favorite pedal on my board. One of the more difficult builds I’ve done on this site due to the number of parts and the tight layout, but its worth it. Build docs are still not available as of this writing, but the silkscreen labels are clear enough to get it built.
It has a raunchy overdriven sound due to the gain needed to generate the octaves, with two very useful switches that let you shape the pedal’s tonal character. Pair it with another distortion to hear it really scream and rev. Individual volume control of the octaves lets you get gnarled and funky with all three octaves on at once, or use them individually for psuedo synthy bass lines or screaming high octave solos.
Be aware this pedal is analogue and monophonic, its nothing like a POG or other digital polyphonic octave pedal. You can’t get a clean tone and you can only play one note at a time ( you can get away with 2 simultaneously, power chords sound okay). So its really just for solos and riffs, playing chords just results in a cacophony of warbly growl.
Something else to note is that pedal board positioning is crucial with this pedal. It must be at the beginning of the pedal chain. The farther down the chain you put it, the worse it sounds, even if all the pedals before it are true bypass. It sounds best first, although I find I can put it second behind the Thumbsucker Compressor with good results. If you play any type of hard rocknroll, you will love this pedal. Current draw: 14mA
