Would give 10 stars if I could. 1. The board layout is very good. I love this symmetry. Additionally, there are very wide spots for the clipping diodes which means that it is easier to get big vintage Russian diodes in there; D311, D18, D9B, etc.. 2. The sound is fantastic. I feel like Death by Audio should have called this by a name other than “Fuzz War.” This circuit is completely different than the “Fuzz War” Mk1. Mk1 has a ton of gain and is deserving of the moniker, it is fun to play with, but you must play WITH it. Mk2 (this pedal) is like a Big Muff with only a single clipping stage with a modified Big Muff tone stage. This pedal is much, much more usable than Mk1. It has a wide range of gain and, very much, a pleasure to play. I feel like it is like a better Big Muff, but the tone is different. A Big Muff is a Big Muff … this is just a good fuzz with some Big Muff colors.

So good. I’ve socketed every diode and transistor spot and have tried many combinations. So far 2x D9E @ 3.4fv and 4xbc547c have been a clear winner. Bat41s are great as well. Seems like .3 to .4 fv are all you need to aim for. Such a fun pedal to build. PedalPCB designs are top tier. Brutal crushing fuzz, cleans up nice with the g/volume.
